The Economic Empowerment Foundation for Exempt Startups & Small Businesses (EEF-501c)™ received its letter of determination granting tax exempt status February 2015 but effective as of October 2014. Our name at the time was The Learners Lab Foundation a hold over from ED-Lab Online (2002-2007), our first public charity that provided telnet access to online classmates and instructors needed software access using our own server.
ED-Lab Online has been restored to serve as the EEF-501cBizIncubator™ dedicated training, innovation, tech engineering research, product development institute and technical reference library for ALL EEF-501c™ Interns and Fellows across the EEF-501c universe in/outside the technology field. This is essential given we operate nation wide, AND we serve all 25+ types of IRS approved tax exempt entities, not just the 501c3 charitable organization.
Back then the online education population had no tech resources and no one was interested in providing. Several years into resuming a degree, our Founder who was a small business and Fed Consultant & began letting classmates user her private server. Along side her other volunteerism, was low-cost training services her clients call a learning lab. She was her own quasi-fiscal sponsor helping mostly small 501c, who also got referrals to help Exempt Startups & Entrepreneurs, with a small regular group before she graduated high school.
1980 was an eventful year. In January she’d incorporated as The Competence Group, taking on the phrase clients used to described her work ethic — out working groups of people. By late summer/early fall, she’d:
- planned and completed two complex project at the same location simultaneously: (a) her first technology deployment of gifted surplus computing equipment and (b) a multi-floor construction project converting several empty/underused spaces into 2 new office suites, a basement-level walk-in lounge and a with a basement-2nd floor lift for wheelchair bound patients; For coming in under budget and finishing ahead of schedule, her boss & his best friend who’d donated the surplus technology, she was gifted a PMI membership. By time PMI issued their first PMP cert in 1985, she was also studying PRINCE II & had put a few thousand large & small projects under her belt;
- been hired after a neighbors recommendation to a Federal Agencies new boss regarding a project they’d been struggling to develop as the lead to design, implement, deploy her unconventional solution ahead of its 1980 frame. This was 2 weeks before her 21st birthday.
TCG™ as a business operation and its volunteerism reflect its Founder — they are one in the same, and STILL shared internal business and personal resources, connections, innovations regardless of who is being helped. When EEF-501c™s name was changed in 2024, TCG™ was changed to 501c Business Incubator Council, LLC™ as well. Both now reflect their intended purposes the Stakeholders targeted, moving away from the much appreciated nicknames and references its client previously used, continuing volunteerism that has never stopped.
Evolutional Changes
EEF-501c™ had previously appended its name adding Foundation to reflect its original 509(a)2 Sub Charter as a Public Charitable Foundation but even with that it still felt incomplete. With their 2024 name changes the Founders personal volunteer interests now accurately manifested themselves as a network of charitable endeavors.
Ongoing since her pre-teen years each area of service continues to evolve expertise that requires continued growth.
This unexpected explosion continues to focus on Peer Stakeholders that evolve into new sibling charities and charitable programs.
More than a helping hand, Its Helping to Live!
Transitioning properties into the possession of the ignored, underserved and vulnerable has never been an add-on effort, Everything done originated from a personal or close enough event that the instinct to prevent a repeat is an natural focal point. not one we needed to be reminded of or schedule to address.
Time however, does its own thing not always aligning with effort or intent, hence our ability to continue moving forward in-spite of.
But regardless of what else is going on, we are blessed, fortunate and thankful to always end up ahead of what was intended/planned for those we help.
